WARNING! The following configuration instructions should be used only to confirm the instructions from your wireless hardware supplier. Follow all instructions from your wireless hardware manufacturer first!
In order to connect to a freeairnet wireless network, some configurations must be made to the AppleTalk and TCP/IP control panels. This document gives step-by-step instructions for configuring a Macintosh running MacOS 7.6 or later to connect to a wireless (IEEE 802.11) Network via DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).
Now you are ready to configure your AppleTalk Control Panel to connect to a wireless network. You can find your control panels folder by clicking the Apple menu, moving the mouse cursor up to Control Panels, and releasing the mouse button when Control Panels is highlighted:
You should see the Control Panels window:
Find and double-click the AppleTalk icon.
The AppleTalk control panel should appear:
Make sure the Connect via: box is set to Airport (May be another name if you are using a non-Apple card). If it isn't, set it to Airport, then click on the small box in the upper left corner of the window.
Open the Control Panels window once again. Find and double-click the TCP/IP icon.

Before You Start
This document assumes you have a Macintosh running System 7.6 or later. This means your machine has an wireless (IEEE 802.11) card installed.


In the TCP/IP window, choose Airport (May be another name if you are using a non-Apple card) for the Connect via: box, and choose Using DHCP Server from the Configure: box. Click on the small box in the upper left corner of the window.


Click on Save when you're asked if you want to save the changes to the current configuration.
Test your wireless network connection by checking your e-mail or browsing a WWW page. If you do not have a working wireless network connection at this point, Get Help!
