WARNING! The following configuration instructions should be used only to confirm the instructions from your wireless hardware supplier. Follow all instructions from your wireless hardware manufacturer first!
To connect to a free wireless network, some configurations must be made to the network control panel. This document gives step-by-step instructions for configuring a PC running Windows 95 to connect to a free wireless network via DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).

Network Control Panel
Now you are ready to configure your Network Control Panel to connect to a wireless network. You can find your control panels folder by clicking the Start menu, moving the mouse cursor up to Settings, and clicking on Control Panel. You should see a window something like this:

Find the Network icon and double-click on it. You should see a window like this:

If the TCP/IP protocol is already listed in the list of installed network components, skip to the Configure TCP/IP for DHCP step. Otherwise, you will need to add it.
Adding TCP/IP
If TCP/IP is not in the list of installed components, click on the Add... button.
You should see a window like this.

Click on Protocol, then click the Add... button. The Select Network Protocol window will be shown.

In the left box, scroll down until you see Microsoft, click on it, and then click on TCP/IP in the right-hand box. Then click OK. (You may be asked to insert your Windows95 CD-ROM.)
Then, TCP/IP should appear in your list of installed network components as shown here. Now you are ready to configure TCP/IP for DHCP.

Configuring TCP/IP for DHCP
With TCP/IP highlighted in the Network Control Panel (as shown above), click on Properties.
You should see a window like this:

Click on the button beside Obtain an IP address automatically and click OK.
When you are back in the Network Control Panel, click OK again, and you should be done.
Try out your network connection by rebooting, then check your e-mail or browse a WWW page. If you do not have a working network connection at this point, Get Help!
